Are you ready for the Challenge?

Start of Race Three, Portsmouth, NH-TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® 2007

 As part of the TALL SHIPS ATLANTIC CHALLENGE®, Sail Training International and the American Sail Training Association are organzing five races and a cruise-in-company over the course of next summer’s event. The international fleet of tall ships will be visiting seven ports in six countries and between ports the races will keep those competitive spirits alive and well during the long stretches without sight of land.

The schedule is as follows:
Race One: Vigo, Spain to Tenerife, Canary Islands (organized by STI)
Race Two: Tenerife to Hamilton, Bermuda  (STI)
Race Three:  Hamilton to Charleston, South Carolina (STI)
Race Four:  Charleston to Boston, Massachussets (ASTA)
Cruise-in-Company:  Boston to Halifax, Nova Scotia (ASTA)
Race Five:  Halifax to Belfast, Northern Ireland (STI)

Get ready for the TALL SHIPS ATLANTIC CHALLENGE®…

For the first time ever, the American Sail Training Association and Sail Training International jointly hosted thier annual conference on Sail Training and Education. This was a wonderful event attended by sailors, sail trainers, ship operators, and educators from around the world. More information is available here.

This year’s conference was a collaborative effort between ASTA and STI because of next summer’s joint event, the TALL SHIPS ATLANTIC CHALLENGE®. A 7,000 nautical mile race starting in Vigo, Spain and ending in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the fleet of vessels will visit seven ports in six countries.
