There is still time to sign up for the American Sail Training Association’s (ASTA) regional meeting on Friday in Newport, Rhode Island. So far, we have a great turnout of ASTA member organizations and sailors and, as a bonus, we will even get to tour the Oliver Hazard Perry. Right now, the Oliver Hazard Perry is just the hull but, thanks to the people at Tall Ships Rhode Island, it will soon be the state’s very own full-rigged sail training vessel. SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS AND RECENT GRADUATES
The American Sail Training Association (ASTA) is seeking summer interns who are interested in working in a unique nonprofit environment. Interns support the staff in various components of the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Race Series.
Responsibilities include:
• assisting with the tall ship races, merchandise, marketing and annual fundraiser.
• coordinating land-based education programs, such as family hands-on activities, entertainment stage performances, exhibitor/demonstrator presentations, and other duties to be determined. Read the rest of this entry »

Following on the heels of the Pacific Coast Regional Meeting, the American Sail Training Association will be holding thier Atlantic Regional Meeting in Newport, Rhode Island. It is a little too cold for battle sails but attendees will get to spend a little time in the City by the Sea with some fellow sailors and sail trainers.
The meeting will be held in the Henry H. Anderson Library in the Seaman’s Church Institute overlooking Bowen’s Wharf in downtown Newport on February 20th.
