Just in case you don’t receive SAIL Magazine (and you should, it’s great), there is a fantastic article about tall ships, sail training, the American Sail Training Association, and this summer’s trans-Atlantic race, the TALL SHIPS ®ATLANTIC CHALLENGE. Also mentioned in the article by David W. Shaw, are ASTA member vessels HMS Surprise, Californian, Picton Castle, AJ Meerwald, Adventuress and Unicorn.

Join the ASTA team in Chicago!
Posted by Erin on March 2, 2009
The final regional meeting of the year will be this Friday at the Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. We will be talking about new member programs -crew membership, the featured member vessel webpage, and crew health insurance. On hand to answer questions about insurance will be representatives from ASTA’s endorsed insurance partner, Allen Agency Insurance.
We will also be discussing next summer’s TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE(r) and we look forward to hear about what is new and exciting in our Great Lakes member organizations.
Berths on Tall Ship Windy are available for the Great Lakes Regional Meeting. This is not the Ritz! It is a bunk, and a space heater on a down rigged ship. Some linens are available, bring your own bedding is a better option. Call Capt Bruce’s cell for more info (312-714-0309) or email tallshipwindy@aol.com. Tall Ship Windy is located on Navy Pier where the meeting is being held. $60 per night.
