#998 Battle Sails
Posted by Erin on May 4, 2011
Battle sails are one of the most popular aspects of a tall ship festival in a port. Tickets are usually sold out within days, if not hours. The look of anticipation on passengers faces, the apprehension of those who just pray they aren’t the ones getting seasick, and the giddiness of the little kid in a pirate hat waving a sword make for an hour of fun. Not to mention spending some time getting in touch with your inner child as the cannon’s boom, the crew yells out orders and the sails fill as the battle rages on the water. You can’t help but get swept up in the excitement. As you wobbily make your way back on shore, your ears still ringing from the cannon fire, and your pirate hat askew you think, “That was awesome!”.
