#989 Summer Whites
Posted by Erin on May 27, 2011
This one in celebration of Memorial Day (and for all the ladies out there).
What is it about those crisp, blindingly white uniforms that puts a spring in your step and a smile on your face? The men always look so snappy and the women so fresh. They know it, you know it. They are like a walking advertisement for a bleach commercial.
Having military vessels as part of a tall ships fleet brings an already great event up a notch. There is a bit more pomp and bit more pagentry. As representatives of their countries, they proudly show off their ship, while bringing a piece of their culture to our doorstep. It’s not every day the navy of Bulgaria raises a glass with the navy of Uruguay. Having those summer whites in town makes us realize that we may be different, but we are so much more alike than we think. Tall ships truly are a global community and that is awesome.
