#972 Sitting Quietly
Posted by Erin on September 2, 2011
It’s hard not to be overstimulated in today’s world. Between smartphones, iPods, featherweight laptops, portable DVD players and any and all information right at your fingertips, your brain starts to throb and beg for some respite. Enter tall ship sailing.
When the engine turns off and the sounds of the ship take over, when your cell phone doesn’t get reception anymore so you might as well turn it off, and when there is no place to plug in your laptop, that is the time to grab a little quiet time to just sit and think deep thoughts. It’s not weird. People do it all the time on a ship. Sitting quietly is practically a right and an expectation. Lost in thought staring out at the ocean? You’re not the only one and you’re certainly not the first. Spent the last few hours of your down time reading a book? Lucky you.
A tall ship is a place that practically begs for introspection. So you sit, awesome and quiet.
