In a little place called Halifax, Nova Scotia

Six ship cooks faced off against each other yesterday afternoon. In an Iron Chef-type competition, they were given 40 minutes to create a meal from the surprise contents of the little blue blox. Celebrity chef Chuck Hughes was on hand to judge the plates and Taste of Nova Scotia generously donated the ingredients and prizes. There were three teams of two – Nick (Eagle) and Kori (Unicorn), Kari (Lynx) and Pat (Peacemaker), and Sean (Gazela) and Jo (Amistad). The ingredients they had to cook with were all local specialites, lobster, scallops, beer and bacon. Everyone had the same items but no two dishes were alike. Ultimately, the winners were Nick and Kori who made stuffed scallops with lobster and bacon in a maple blueberry batter.
Last night was our last crew party of the season and Bert Rogers, Executive Director of Tall Ships America, handed out the racing awards. Here are the final standings (all on corrected time):
Race Two – Sprint from Greenportd
1st place – Pride of Baltimore II
2nd place – Picton Castle
Race Three – Sprint from Newport
1st place – Pride of Baltimore II
Race Four – Sprint to Halifax
1st place - USCGC Eagle
2nd place – Pride of Baltimore II
3rd place – Appledore V
