How does one sign up for crewing??? Have grand-kids living in TC (Mi) who would love to participate? How can we make it happen???

      Hi Norman,
There are a couple ways to go about becoming a crew member or trainee- On our website, http://www.sailtraining.org, you can go to the Billet Bank (on the left side under QUICK LINKS) which is where our member vessels post job openings for deckhands/crew. Otherwise, I would recommend getting in touch with area tall ships and seeing what programs they have to offer in the upcoming sailing seasons. There are several in the Traverse City area, MANITOU, MADELINE, CHAMPION, and WELCOME. Additionally, there are many vessels that are in the Great Lakes – APPLEDORE IV & V, NIAGARA, DENIS SULLIVAN, FRIENDS GOOD WILL, and INLAND SEAS. Feel free to contact our Newport office -401.846.1775- with any additional questions.

    Erin,
the next time you talk to your graphic artist, Put-In-Bay seems to have slipped to the west on the graphic.. closer to Monroe, Mi.. Just an observation.. graphic artists are not required to read charts,,

Hi, my partner and I are very interested in becoming crew on a tall ship for either the TSC 2012 Atlantic and/or 2013 Great Lakes seasons. We are currently based in Halifax, NS. Do you know of any tall ships in the area which we may be able to contact directly? Also, any other tall ship sailing jobs would be of interest to us as well.

    Thank you kindly,
    Margot and Seppo

Why aren’t you stopping in the Rochester port this time? It has been several years since the Tall Ships came here. Thanks for your response in advance!

    • Erin said

      Hi Wendy,
Thank you for your interest in the tall ships! We have a very full schedule of ship events for 2013 in the Great Lakes. Unfortunately, there are only so many weekends in the summer and not every port that wants a tall ship gets one. However, there is always a chance that, since Rochester has been a host port in the past, that a ship will stop in.

I work for a publisher that makes sailing ship titles among other historical books. Is there exhibitor space available at the various ports?

Good day all, does anyone have a list of all the ship’s participating in the TSC? If not yet published when will they be?

Hi there, I am writing from the Town of Gore Bay. We have a very large festival that takes place at our waterfront every year called Gore Bay Harbour Days. Is there any chance that we could arrange for a tall ship to come to our Marina? The date of our festival is July 19, 20, 21st.

Do you know what tall ships will be participating this year? Thanks for passing on tho info. If this email has gone to the wrong place please forward it on.
    Thanks Harold. Ford

    • Erin said

      Hi Harold,
We have an idea of what ships will be in the Great Lakes but nothing has been formally announced yet. You can expect the Great Lakes homeported vessels – DENIS SULLIVAN, NIAGARA, MADELINE, FRIENDS GOOD WILL etc., and ships coming in from the East Coast – PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II, UNICORN, LYNX among others. We also have some new faces in the fleet that we are really excited about. Our host ports should start announcing their lineups by the end of February.

      Fair Winds,
      Erin S.

Is there any way that we can know what the ships’ course will be when they sail from Sioux St. Marie to Duluth? I think there are a lot of us sailors in the Apostle Islands that would love to sail out to see you pass by!
