Sweet Home Chicago

We are being blessed with gorgeous weather here in Chicago. Yesterday afternoon was the Parade of Sail and you couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. Patti and I had a bird’s eye view from the roof of Navy Pier as the ships sailed their way past the crowds and fired off their canons to the delight of the specators. Here are some photos:

This morning dawned clear and bright for the first day of the Pepsi Tall Ships® Chicago on Navy Pier. To help kick off the event, we awarded the prizes for race from Sturgeon Bay Canal to Winds Point and for the overall winners. 

Race Four Winners (all on Corrected Time)
Third Place – Europa
Second Place-Roald Amundsen
First Place- Niagara

Third Place- Lynx
Second Place-Pride of Baltimore 2
First Place- Friends Good Will

Overall Winners for all four races (based on corrected time)
Third Place – Roald Amundsen
Second Place – Europa
First Place – Pride of Baltimore 2

Special Recognition Awards
Fleet AwardPride of Baltimore 2
Presented in recognition of special service to the fleet and enhancing the safety and management of the races

Seamanship Award – Presented for special service to the fleet, in the true spirit of Seamanship
Appledore IV – for her helpfulness in getting all the ships comfortably settled at the docks in Green Bay
US Brig Niagara -for providing the assistance of expert divers to sister brig Roald Amundsen
