#993 The smell of freshly baked goodness coming from the galley

Posted by Tall Ships America on May 16, 2011

There is something so comforting and welcoming about the smell of fresh baked goods. Knowing that someone has taken the time meaure out the ingredients, mixed them all together and baked the rolls, those cookies, or that cake, makes you salivate in anticipation.  Even better is when the smell is eminating from the galley in the middle of a voyage. It makes the ship feel more like home.

It’s the fresh baked scone at 3am,  the plate of chocolate cookies waiting for you that were made by the previous watch, the birthday cake made on the sly and proudly paraded out during dinner. Or the bread baking in the oven, the smell wafting out to those working on deck.  It’s the awesome smell of freshly baked goodness…
