#978 – Swim Call

Posted by Tall Ships America on July 14, 2011

These past few days in Newport have been sweltering. We aren’t into the triple digits like most of the country, but the humidity is so thick it is like walking into a pool when you step outside. As I sit in my third floor, unair-conditioned office, the back of my legs sticking to my chair, all I want to do is this:

Some people get really into the swim call, launching into a cannonball or showing off their diving skills, doing tricks and twists as they jump into the water. Others do the safe jump in and spend the rest of the time paddling around on their back, feet in the air. And there is always the dude with the swim mask, who has been waiting patiently for just this opportunity to use it. It’s hazy, hot, and humid out there and everywhere – it’s time to dive into the cool, refreshing sea of awesome!

Thanks Heather (2007 Summer Intern) for the idea!

Have an idea or a story you want to share? Email it to me at erin@sailtraining.org and I’ll add it to the blog with props to you.
