How many sailors does it take to haul a boat out?

Posted by Tall Ships America on May 7, 2014

Oliver Hazard Perry was hauled out in Newport Shipyard on April 25th. Tall Ships America headed down to the water to catch the action and enjoy the late spring sunshine.

With a rigging crew hard at work and her engines newly installed, this 207′ steel vessel looks quite a bit different from the last time we saw her. She will be on the hard (out of the water) for the next few weeks as her propellers and shafts are inspected, her bottom and topsides are painted, thru-hull penetrations for sea water intakes are installed, and her zinc anodes are replaced.
