June 12, 2015: It is well into summer here in Cape Charles, with the temperature already into the eighties by 0900 and threatening to reach 90 degrees by midday. But there’s a gentle breeze down on the docks, where Tree of Life, Hindu, Lynx and Picton Castle are tied up. We’re expecting Serenity to arrive this evening. The crew are hard at work with last minute preparations to welcome tomorrow’s crowds. Vendors, too, are setting up and maintenance crews are doing a little weeding in the beautiful landscaping along the event site. It’s going to be a great weekend in Cape Charles and we hope to see everyone here!

June 13, 2015: The festival gates have just opened in Cape Charles, Virginia, and already the waterfront is full of visitors. From the harbor full of tall ships that visitors can board and vendors’ wares such as miniature handmade vessels with curved glass sails, there is so much to see and do at the festival today! There is a full day line-up of musical entertainment and, later on this morning, we’re looking forward to the black powder demonstrations by Moody Crewe. After much anticipation, Tall Ships® at Cape Charles has begun!

June 14, 2015: We had a great time at Tall Ships® Cape Charles yesterday and are ready for another sunny, crowd-filled day by the harbor. There’s a light breeze today to counter the heat of the summer sun. Erin & Eliza had the opportunity to sail aboard Lynx & Hindu on afternoon daysails – check out their pictures on the Tall Ships America Facebook Page and on Twitter!

June 15, 2015: It’s a beautiful day out on the water! The TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Race Team is underway with Tall Ships® at Cape Charles Port Organizer Capt. Dave Stewart, his wife Hania and her daughter Kim, Photographer Chris Glennon, and sailboat owner Paul who graciously invited us aboard his boat to head out to the race start. Picton Castle, Lynx, Serenity, Hindu, and Tree of Life are setting sail. There’s not much wind but it’s a glorious day on the Chesapeake!
