Is it too late to host a port call for a tall ship on the St.Lawrence River? I have a 250′ long dock with 14′ of water and good access to the channel, in Morristown, NY. Please let us know if we could be part of the event!

      Hi Tom,
This summer schedule has been in development for two years and our ports for the ships are set for every weekend in July and August. Thank you for your generous offer and we will definitely keep Morristown, NY in mind.

I am wondering when the tall ships can be seen sailing on Lake Michigan? We just saw them in Bay City, MI and thought it would be a nice thing to be able to see as they are on Lake Michigan headed for Chicago.

    • Erin said

      Hi Nancy,
The ships won’t be in Lake Michigan until August 17, when they start the race down towards Chicago.

We were able to see the Tall Ships in Sturgeon Bay. It was awesome. Do you know where we can get a list of where the Ships will be each year? Thanks so much. Have a great time in Green Bay. It looks like good weather. Loretta

WOW – for some reason I thought they came to Chicago every year. Tall ships arriving to port IS a special event. I sailed on the Friends Good Will for the Chicago Parade of Sail. AWESOME! Did they win the race? The crew was excited to learn their fate.

I would love to work and sail port to port on the Great Lakes in 2013. How can I get involved?

      • Erin said

        Hi-
I am so glad you had such a great experience on Friends Good Will. This year’s Parade of Sail was spectacular and you are so lucky to have been a part of it! Friends Good Will came in First on Corrected Time for the Class B, C, D vessels. We presented the captain with an award on Wednesday and he was thrilled.

The best way to become more involved is to keep checking our website for updates on 2013 http://www.sailtraining.org. You can volunteer in port or , if you want to sail from port to port, you can become a crew member or a trainee on a participating ship. These opportunities will be available in the spring of 2013.

        Fair Winds,
        Erin S.

Hi Captain– Just wondering if your ships are coming through Deaths Door and the Sturgeon Bay ship canal on your way to or from Green Bay? Is there a time slot you will be making this leg of your voyage?

    Terry

    • Erin said

      Hi Terry,
The ships arrive in Sturgeon Bay on August 14th and then will continue down to Green Bay on the 15th. They will be departing Green Bay on the morning of the 19th and will most likely pass through the canal about 12 hours or so later.

      Best,
      Erin S.

Thanks for the updates. I could not change my work schedule to fit your passing in Sturgeon Bay. I am sad. I do enjoy your updates. Have a great cruise.
