In celebration of 75 years (but she doesn’t look a day over 45)

Become a fan of the United States Coast Guard Barque Eagle on Facebook!

January 6, 2011 marked the start of the year-long celebration of  the 75th anniversary of the US Barque Eagle.  In May, the ship will depart for it’s Summer Training Cruise and will make stops in Waterford, Ireland; London, England; Reykjavik, Iceland; Halifax, Nova Scotia and will return to the Blohm and Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany where she was originally built in 1936.  Their goal is to have 7500 Facebook fans follow along with the crew as they sail across the Atlantic, so follow this link to the United States Coast Guard Barque Eagle fanpage and become a fan!

Salvador, Brazil is the colonial capital of Brazil, and one of the oldest cities in the country and in the New World. The historical center was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.

Save the Date! Atlantic Regional Meeting

This year’s Atlantic Regional Meeting will be held on the USCG EAGLE in New London, CT on Saturday, April 9, 2011. 

These meetings are a smaller gathering of vessel operators, organizations, crew and captains, and are a way to reconnect with people who may have not been able to attend the conference. 

During the regional meetings, ASTA introduces new member programs and benefits, and invites attendees to share what is new and exciting in their organizations.

Explore Minnesota Tourism Recognizes Tall Ships Campaign

Duluth, MN – Visit Duluth was awarded the top marketing award during Explore Minnesota Tourism’s Annual Excellence in Tourism Awards Banquet Tuesday evening, January 25, 2011. The event is a highlight of EMT’s annual Tourism Conference, held this year at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa. The conference brings visitor organizations together from across the state to provide strategic direction and celebrate Minnesota’s successes.

Visit Duluth was recognized for the effectiveness of its spring and summer marketing campaign promoting Tall Ships® Duluth 2010. Leveraging advertising, media relations, online and social marketing, Visit Duluth was able to attract more than 250,000 fans from July 28-August 1, and generate an estimated $15 million economic impact for Duluth.
